Happy New Year!
I'm not sure where to start. 2015 was a wonderful year. I feel very different than I felt just one year ago. It's been an exciting time of single-living, freedom, travel, new friends, old friends, and simply, just figuring out what I want to be doing or where I want to be. In short, this has been the year of "yes" for me. A year where I focused 1000% on Natalie and nobody else. I was newly single and finally enjoyed that part of myself. I've always been told that there are very few times in your life that you will find yourself having to take care of no one but you. So I embraced it! I said yes to everything.
I said yes to travel. I went to NYC several times for weekends with friends and general exploration. Beach trips became a regular occurrence all summer long. I traveled to France to celebrate my amazing best friend's beautiful wedding and showed my mother Paris for the first time. I traveled to Ireland with a group of awesome college girlfriends, danced the night away as we pub-crawled through the night, wore a fur cape on a Game of Thrones tour, met beautiful Irish men, and probably had the best time of my life.
I watched five people very close to me get married. I said yes to going out, to going to parties, to dining out, to dancing, to drinking a few glasses of wine every weekend, and made tons of wonderful, new friends who I hope to stay in touch with and see often in the new year. I moved out of my apartment with my beloved three roommates and into a brand new one with three strangers - ones who I've come to love! I discovered new delicious restaurants in my own city. I walked through museums and looked at art. I explored through monuments alone and sat in cafes to watch the city walk by, just because. I said yes to doing things for myself, like buying those J.Crew shoes I really wanted or ordering that expensive (but delicious) food for a Friday night in, or treating myself to massages...because hey, life is short. And let's be honest, I deserve it ;)
I said yes to learning to cook more often and healthier. I said yes to things I hate to do, like exercising. I said yes to more freelance projects and learned more about graphic design. I said yes to chopping my hair off. I said yes to spending more time with family, because in the end, they will always be there when others will not. I said yes to moving on from my past and moving forward. I said yes to embracing the things I do have and forgetting about things that I don't. I said yes to choosing to be happy when I wake up in the morning. I said yes to getting out of bed, putting make up on, and wearing my favorite things just to feel like a real person every day. I surrounded myself with creative, intelligent, funny, kind, and positive people. Necessary to survival (am I right?).
So there you have it. A short and sweet recap of an awesome year. I'm so excited to see what 2016 brings. Thank you all for such a wonderful 12 months at Catalina Creative. It's been marvelous watching this space of mine grow and evolve, and it couldn't of happened without each and every one of you.
Cheers to 2016!
