This Thursday I'm heading down to Florida. I'll be staying with my brother in the Winter Park area and spending some time downtown and at Harry Potter World! Having him work for Universal Studios does have its perks! Then I'll be spending the second half of the trip at our condo in Vero Beach. I'm so ready for sunshine, palm trees, and a dip in the ocean. I'm currently starting to pack my bags for the six days away and wanted to share my list of necessities for a MDW vacation.
I'm a big fan of easy, simple packing. With all the purging I've done this year, my closet has become very basic. Hardly any patterns, mostly solids, and lots of neutrals. Everything can go together and I love it. I've aimed to pack carry-ons on all my trips, and have gotten really good at not overpacking, but bringing only what I need and will actually wear.
My advice to you? Pack solid colors that go well together - my picks are whites, browns, blacks, and then add a little more color... like a yummy pink. Bring one to two easy dresses, one pair of shorts and one pair of pants or denim (they can be worn several times), a couple solid or graphic tees, then a top for dinner/night out. When it comes to shoes, pack one pair of flip flops that can get dirty, then a pair of flats or slides that will go with all outfits. Unless you have an event, forget the heels or wedges, give your feet a rest.
Bring a bag that goes with everything, a basket bag perhaps! Then pack an easy beach tote that can fold up in your suitcase. Beach trips for me are spent mainly in swimsuits and coverups, so I pack a few. Bring one pair of fun, statement earrings and a necklace, and don't forget the sunnies! Be sure to pack facial mist and lip balm and sunscreen...because the heat and sunshine do damage when you're at the beach. Leave the hair accessories and irons at home, the best hair repair is salt water and a natural dry/style after showering. Lastly, I always snag a sweatshirt and sweats for lounging in the evenings. How do you pack for beach vacations?
